Anti-Whistle Resolution-Agreement - 153 Avenue/CN Railway Crossing

1. That the cessation of railway whistling at the proposed rail crossing at 153 Avenue, west of 139 Street (Mile 2.28 Westlock Subdivision) be approved.

2. That Administration proceed with an Anti-Whistle agreement with CN Rail for the rail crossing, and that the agreement be acceptable in form and content to the City Manager.

That the Mayor, on behalf of City Council, meet with the Minister of Health and Wellness to discuss the challenges and costs of DATS to Edmonton taxpayers and what role the Province can play in assisting with these costs, and the results of these discussions be provided to Councillors and the City Manager.

Recycling of Winter Street Sand Agreement

That an agreement with the Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence to recycle winter street sand for a period of six years for a value not to exceed $20,000,000 be approved and that the agreement be acceptable in form to the City Manager.

Active Transportation Infrastructure in Renewal Neighbourhoods

 

 

 

A. Jones, Transportation Services, made a presentation.

1. That Administration provide a report to Transportation and Infrastructure Committee with draft amendment to Active Transportation Policy C544 that include:

a. criteria to ensure an urban forester assessment is conducted for all treed neighbourhoods based infrastructure renewal projects and that this assessment ,including impacts and mitigation strategies, be shared with the community where the project is proposed.

b. provisions to ensure design options are presented to the effected community during renewal projects.

2. That Administration, working with Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, provide a report to Transportation and Infrastructure Committee outlining a possible draft community appeal process for neighbourhood renewal projects as outlined in Policy C544 Active Transportation Policy.

Members of Council requested that the motion be split for voting purposes.
